Terry Pratchett (Pterry) O.B.E.
has to be my favourite author and one of the most popular on the
Internet. There are many pages dedicated to his books - the main
one being l-space.
There are also a few newsgroups dedicated to talking about Pterry and his books. These can be found at alt.fan.pratchett and at alt.books.pratchett. There is also alt.talk.mended-drum, a virtual pub with Pterry leanings.
There are at least 21 Discworld books plus maps, games, plays, Clarecraft figures, T-shirts, Discworld beer and all kinds of other merchandise. Links for all of these can be found at l-space (see link above).

It has to be a toss-up between Death and Rincewind. However I use the name Angua on ABP and chat sessions.
I love the way that Death turns up when Rincewind is in a sticky situation (Death has to turn up when wizards die) - but he is always passing through on his way somewhere else. I sometimes wonder if even Death knows how much sand is left in Rincewind's life-timer.
Angua - a werewolf from Uberwald is the girlfriend of Captain Carrot and a member of the City Watch of Ankh-Morpork.
Pterry's next book is "The Fifth Elephant" due out in November 1999. Amazon (on line bookshop) have cut the price drastically.
I have completed both Discworld computer games. I would reccommend reading most of the books before attempting them. The puzzles to complete are very involved. If anyone is stuck on them either e-mail me or look for one of the many walk-throughs on the Internet.
The third game - Discworld Noir - won't load for me. It plays the introduction then comes out of the program back to the Desktop. If anyone knows how to make it work please let me know.
I have now completed this game also - once I got DirectX to behave.
